Facts about Maggie

  • Breed: Australian Shepherd/Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Maggie was found in a Kmart parking lot, so she is guessed to be about 6yrs old. Weighs between 50-60 pounds. Guessed to be an Australian Shepherd/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. She is spayed, up to date on shots and on a monthly HW and flea/tick preventative. It is very important that she stay on HW preventative for the rest of her life, as she already suffered from Heart Worms 3 years ago and I paid $1600 for her to go through a very tough treatment for 6 months. She has a clean bill of health, and it had no lasting effect on her what so ever.
She has perfect house manners. Familiar with use of a dog door. House broken to the point she can be left at home for 12+ hours without an accident. She's never chewed anything up. She takes no interest in toys, but loves bones and rawhides. She likes the water, but is not a water dog. She loves to hike.is great off leash, and good on leash. She's a good listener, and has excellent recall. Eager to please and very treat motivated. She loves car rides. Has travelled thousands of miles with me. And will sit in the car and nap for hours. She has been to a number of hotels and as long as she's on a leash when out of the room or car, she's a blessing to be on the road with.
She loves her humans, and is partial to males. Gentle with children. Loves to cuddle. She mostly behaves like an old lady when inside, and spunky when outside. She will allow you to pick her up and cradle her like a baby. She is very cuddly and playful with medium and larger dogs (35+ pounds) She should be kept away from small and toy size dogs, along with cats. She is very prey driven. She is unpredictable and will chase, catch and shake.
I am willing to arrange transport her to anywhere in the New England area. $100 adoption fee to assure serious inquiries only.

About Australian Shepherds Furever - Randolph, MA 02638

About Our Rescue Group...

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 27,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
