My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HARLEY is a 10 year old neutered yellow male Lab who weighs 78 pounds. Harley is a big teddy bear of a yellow lab. He has a sad but typical story. He was the loved, spoiled best friend of an elderly lady. When she died, he was passed around among the family, ending up as a backyard dog of a nephew who paid him no attention. When the nephew got tired of him, he was saved from being abandoned at the shelter by Lab Rescue. Harley is about ten now. He is heartworm free and healthy overall. He will need rimadyl for minor arthritis. When he came to his foster Mom, he was stair shy and house shy. It took less than 24 hours for him to "remember" what a home is and he was soon sleeping beside the bed. He is very companionable, loving and sweetly attention seeking. He does have a fine big voice! Harley pays no attention to cats or chickens. He fit in immediately with the "pack" at his foster Mom's house, taking a particular interest in an English Setter and follows her about. Harley will be a good companion and friend. He needs love and attention to find his new furever family! Harley is house trained. He is a great rider and easy on leash. He is good with dogs, cats and chickens. Harley lived with kids his whole life and is approved for kids 4 and up. He is approved for kids 4+. More info soon!

Update: Harley continues to settle into his foster family. He is beginning to play with toys and gets quite annoyed when one rolls under furniture. It is so cute to watch him woof at it like it can come out from there on its own. He plays with balls by himself, rolling them and fetching them. Harley has a very big deep voice and uses it to announce arrivals at the house, but most of the time is calm and quiet. He is completely housebroken and sleeps beside his foster Mom all night. He has fit right in with his foster's large pack with no issues. He is eating well. His eyes and ears are clearing up nicely with medication. He grows more confident with time away from his bad situation. He is sitting up straight and looks you in the eye. He is relearning basic commands with ease. Harley is good with five or six stairs and negotiates the porch steps well. He is a WONDERFUL senior boy in search of a furever family that won't let him down this time! Come see Harley! You won't be sorry!!!

Update: Don't let Harley's age fool you! He is lively and oh so loving. He does stairs just fine and loves to play ball! He is so happy to be in the house and part of the family again! He loves it at his foster but would love a furever family to call his own!
