Facts about Rusty

  • Breed: Manx
  • Color: Orange Or Red
  • Age: Senior
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Rusty was abandoned by his guardian. He is a very large boy that weighs about 14 pounds.
He is unique because he may be a Manx mix. Manx cats are usually born without a tail and
they will usually have a stump, small or short tail. Rusty seems to have a stump so they are
called stumpies. They also have a round head, round cheeks, round eyes and round behind.
He seems to have those characteristics as well. When he came to us he did not trust anyone.
He has come such a long way in 2 years. He is good with getting petted and even enjoys
being brushed by volunteers he has come to know and trust. He truly loves some of the other
cats in Cat Cove. You can often find them sleeping in a big group in a bed. If given the chance
maybe his true personality may turn out to be like the Manx. They are smart, playful, "dog like
cats", laid back and able to get along with dogs, cats and older children. Rusty is a senior
cat and is eligible for no adoption fee to an approved senior citizen through our Senior to
Senior program. You can meet Rusty at Helping Paws

About Helping Paws

About Our Shelter...

Fox Valley Helping Paws Animal Welfare Association, a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, was founded in 1969. Helping Paws is a no-kill animal shelter for stray and abandoned dogs and cats in McHenry County and surrounding areas. The animals are provided a sanctuary where they receive medical care, spaying or neutering, daily care and love, and the opportunity to be adopted by a responsible owner.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The shelter is open 7 days from noon until 4:00 pm with late nights on Tuesday and Thursday until 7:00 pm

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Procedure
If you are interested in adopting an animal, you must first fill out a pre-adoption form (see below) so that we can match the right family to the right pet. Before a dog can be adopted, a second visit to the shelter is required. It is important that everyone in your family meets the new dog and if you already have a dog that a meet and greet is arranged to make sure the dogs will get along. It is also important that you are entirely sure that this is the right decision for you and your family.
Helping Paws' primary concern is the well being of all our loving animals entrusted to our care. Our Adoption Policies list the requirements we stand by to ensure the animals are adopted into loving, responsible homes.
Adoption forms are available at the shelter; they are not available on the website.
