My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Rose ...she could see that her temperament was so kind and sweet that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized.

The shelter recognized Rose for all her great qualities and wrote the following on her shelter card (this is very unusual for a dog in a shelter to be acknowledged in this positive way)... Rose is a very cute (with the greatest markings ever) 13 week old Labrador Retriever/Bernese Mountain Dog mix. She is still in her very cute puppy phase so she is an active and happy-go-lucky girl. This also means she's a blank slate that's open to anything. Rose is learning to play and beginning to understand how fun toys are... but her love of people comes first and she would love nothing more than to cuddle and get some serious belly rubs. Rose is also learning the beginning skills of leash walking..she's doing great (always wants to please) and is so excited when she's successful.

Did we mention that Rose is great with kids? She's the sweetest and the most fun! She would make a great addition to a family with children (although we'd prefer older kids who won't pull Rose's tail). She'd be such a great choice to join the family for athletic events and days spent hiking and having outdoor fun.

Rose is such a smart puppy (she seems to grasp things just a bit before the other pups). She's open and curious about everything around her and figures things out at an amazing rate! She's incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If she continues her current regimen at her foster home of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, Rose will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. It's so important for a young girl like Rose to get the chance to participate in puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement obedience group classes. These classes create bonding and the opportunity for humans to become leaders for their dogs.

FOSTER SUMMARY
Rose is an adorable Lab/Bernese mix pup with a shining coat with the most beautiful markings ever! This speaks of good health and youth. Rose's sweet demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more analytical..and then overjoyed once comfortable in a new situation. If Rose is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted dog who respects her people. This is the kind of family we're searching for for our sweet girl. We also feel it's very important that Rose is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities.

We've requested that Rose be spayed prior to her arrival to Colorado. Often Texas vets feel that puppies of Rose's age are too young to be fixed. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to pay for Rose's spay at our Denver vet after she arrives in Colorado.

Rose will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/22/16. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
