This is Salem (HWTH#16251A). She is a Shar Pei/Pit mix, DOB: 3/21/16 (her sibling is Sniper [adopted]). Salem weighs approximately 33 pounds and stands 17 inches at the shoulders now with more growing to do (she will be a medium-size dog when mature). Salem, Sniper, one other sibling and their mother wandered into a neighborhood in Rosamond, California a few weeks ago where a good Samaritan took them all in, cared for them and fed them to get them all healthy. The good Samaritan was able to keep the mother and one of the pups and has now relinquished Salem and Sniper to Halfway to Home so they can find their Forever homes. Salem is a loving, happy girl who is a little reserved on first meeting strangers but only wants love so soon warms up to you. She likes to give small kisses and responds immediately to affection. A volunteer with Halfway to Home is fostering her so she is living with 14 other dogs of various ages and sizes and has learned how to use a dog door and is now house trained. After Salem has been adopted and is thoroughly settled in her new Forever home, she will benefit from positive basic obedience training to help with leash training and the bonding process. Salem should be given an abundant supply of chew toys so she has an outlet for puppy chewing. With lots of love and good-quality human companionship, Salem will make a wonderful canine companion. About Halfway to Home

About Our Rescue Group...

Halfway To Home was formed in 2001 due to the need in the Antelope Valley to rescue the many homeless, helpless pets. We have animals from individuals who have to give up pets, and from animal shelters that have darling individuals who need to be spared euthanasia. There are puppies coming from individuals who did not spay and neuter in a timely manner. Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 512 Rosamond, CA 93560 or you can visit us on our web site at and make a donation through PayPal.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Come and see us every Saturday & Sunday, rain or shine from 1 to 5 PM at the Westside Palmdale Petsmart, located on 10th Street West, next to Trader Joe's, just south of Rancho Vista Blvd (Avenue P).

We are in need of volunteers to help out at our pet adoptions at PetSmart in west Palmdale on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. If interested, please visit us during our adoption hours at the west Palmdale PetSmart or call Suzanne at 661-824-4495.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption procedure includes an application to make sure the dog and the people will be a good match, an adoption fee to cover the cost for shots, spaying or neutering, and a home check. Halfway to Home dogs are adopted out to be part of the family, and many of them are housetrained, if not, we ask that you are willing to undertake that task. Our dogs are intended to be indoor/outdoor family members. Doggie doors are a plus.
