Where to start with Walt? Found wandering on a hwy, 20 lbs underweight and barely hanging on. His vet visit discovered internal and external parasites, a raging UTI and he was heartworm positive. Several months later and he has now packed on the pounds, been neutered, vaccinated, treated for his UTI, micro-chipped and had his heartworm treatment. He will need retested in a few months but all signs point to a successful outcome. He will need to be kept on heartworm preventative as all dogs should be but it is imperative for him. About 6 years old, 75 lbs now, he is a typical Coonhound, stubborn and somewhat independent, he is also sensitive and gentle and will need someone who can take their time, be patient and understand that he has had a pretty crappy life until now. Not an apartment dog, not a farm dog or lawn ornament, he will require a securely fenced yard or in hound fashion, he would follow his nose into the sunset. Should be fine with other similar sized friendly dogs but would say no to cats or other small furries. E-mail is always the first step for more information or an application.
