Coco is a wonderful and loving boxer. She was a rescue for us about three years ago. We believe Coco is about 4 to 5 years old. We are an extremely busy family and we feel that we cannot give Coco the attention she needs at this stage in her life. We are currently looking to get her into an obedience training course. Coco is very excitable but is starting to behave better and better each day. She needs a lot of attention, but is very loving and friendly around all walks of people.

We have had two occasions with small dogs that you need to be aware of. While a dog walker friend of ours was walking her, she attacked and bit a small white fluffy dog. We are not clear on the exact circumstance, but nonetheless, we did have to pay for a vet bill and the dog is now fine. On a more recent occasion, she broke free from a stake that I had her leashed to in the front yard, while we were working on a project. She chased after a neighbor couple that was walking their smaller dog. The dogs got into a scuffle and as the husband and I were tending to the dogs, the wife fell and her herself and needed to seek medical treatment from the fall. Again, Coco was going after the smaller dog, not people. She dearly adores any attention from any people and is super great around kids. We'll be sad to see her go, but feel she needs more attention than we can give. If you're interested in Coco, please contact her owner, Paige at 925 963 7361

About Tri-Valley Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily support the East County Animal Shelter (ECAS) in Dublin, CA to help owners locate their missing pets and to assist people selecting a pet to adopt. Tri-Valley Animal Rescue also places animals from ECAS and other area shelters in foster care in the homes of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them permanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.

We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page ( for information.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Dog adoptions take place at the Pleasanton Farmers Market, at the park on the corner of First and Angela streets, every Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm. If it's raining, we hold our adoption event at Murphy's Paw, 410 Main St., Pleasanton. We also have weekly dog adoptions in front of the Dublin PetSmart from 10am to 2pm on Sundays. All of our adoptable dogs (and selected ECAS dogs) are available on our website and on

Adult cats are on display in the cat cages at the Dublin PetSmart and are adoptable by appointment. All of our adoptable adult cats (and selected ECAS cats) are available on our website and on

Kitten adoptions take place every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm at the Dublin PetSmart, pending availability. During kitten season (March to November), we have way more kittens than we could ever hope to post online, so come on out to see our selection.

All of our adoptable animals can also be met/adopted by appointment made directly with the foster volunteers.

Our Adoption Process...

Please browse our adoptable animals. We make every effort to keep our listings updated, so if an animal shows up, there is an 80-90% chance that it is likely still available for adoption.

Each of our animals has contact information in the description - either referencing the phone number of the East County Animal Shelter (ECAS), or the email/phone of the volunteer who is fostering the animal. If you have questions, please use the contact information in the description directly. Emails sent to are answered, but the Webmaster doesn't know the animals personally and will just forward your request to the contact source in the animal's description.

If an animal is at ECAS, they have their own adoption process. Please go to ECAS (they are open daily 11:30am to 5:30pm except holidays) to meet the animal and learn about ECAS's adoption process. If an animal is in foster with TVAR, please fill out an adoption application (availabe here: and send it to the foster person listed in the animal's description. We consider each application and pick the best one for the animal in question. In general, we do not do out of area adoptions.

All TVAR animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, flea-free, and microchipped. Felines are FIV/FeLV tested. Many of our pets also come with a "packed bag" that can include a variety of goodies like bedding, food, toys, leashes, and even private training sessions with our professional trainers. Adoption fees vary by species. Our fee range is $75-200. Dogs and puppies are also subject to a $100 refundable training deposit. The foster volunteer can provide specifics for the animals in their care.
