York's Story...
Hi, my name is York, but you can give me a new name if you want. My white-and-black fur is like a bed of satin ... soft and smooth. I love being petted and brushed. I have a super loving, friendly personality. My purr is so loud it will tickle your ear. I’m a great neck warmer since I love to nuzzle up to you. I’m a cuddle bug at night. We can keep each other warm and snuggly. I’ve been taught not to scratch furniture (only my scratching post). I always use the litterbox like a good boy. I'm a 6-month-old, neutered male kitty who already loves you so much. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to get belly rubs and have my hair messed up. I’m strange like that, but it feels so good. And I have to play with you. Give me something round and bouncy and watch me go! I will provide hours of entertainment, cuddles and love. I have a soft, kind soul. I'm sensitive and I love people. I am a playful, fun-loving kitty with a heart of gold. I get along great with other cats and I need a home where I'm not the only one. I love kids who are gentle with me and who will play with me. Every toy is a great toy! Please just give me a chance! Adoption fee: $60. Adopt a pair: $90. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and 60 days of free pet insurance.

Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

York, a Troy Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Troy, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
