We know Thanksgiving was yesterday, but WRS is so thankful for volunteers, Good Samaritans, and foster homes who want to help these rescue pups! Today, Silky is moving from boarding to a foster home! We're so excited for handsome Silky and we're pretty sure his new foster sister is going to love playing with him! And, if there's one thing that Silky LOVES, it's to play with other dogs! Safe travels to all our Weim Wagon volunteers today and THANK YOU for your time and dedication!

Look at Silky (the blue boy) and Reagan (the gray) having a blast together! Both these boys are available for adoption. Both these boys love to play with other pups and both are super sweet with people. Silky is NOT cat friendly and we don't know how Reagan would do with cats. We're very proud of Silky, who continues to steadily lose weight and get healthier. Reagan will be 5 yo in December and Silky is about 5-6 years old. If interested in adopting either of these two fun boys, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Roses are red, Weims are blue?! Well, these three certainly are! WRS has seen a huge surge in blue weims in our care this year; we have no idea why. Here are Sam, Bennie, and Silky all having a romp and enjoying playing with each other. Both Bennie and Silky are slowly losing weight; they have a long way to go, but they are making steady progress. Sam is the petite female in the trio. All three of these great dogs are available for fostering or adoption. If interested in any of these pups, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Silky is WRS's Weim of the Month for September! We would love to see this sweet boy find a foster or forever home. Silky is 5-6 years old, has fantastic house manners, loves to play with other dogs, and is so happy to be with people. Silky is NOT cat-friendly, but that is the only knock we can find on this handsome pup! Silky has been steadily losing some much needed weight since coming to WRS and we know that he will continue to drop those pounds when he can get out of boarding and into a home. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Silky, or any of our weims, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

What do these three handsome boys - Bing, Rooney, and Silky - have in common? All three are ready for a foster or forever home! These big boys are all between 3-5 years old; Silky is a very easy going boy while Bing and Rooney are more active and intense. Silky gets along well with everyone and Bing and Rooney do well with well behaved dogs. WRS would really like to see these boys in a home, and not just for their benefit. Our boarding numbers are very high and we are having to limit our intake of other weims in need until we can get our numbers down. If you have fostered for WRS before and are interested in helping out, please message us! If interested in adopting, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Oh, sweet Silky! Silky came to WRS very overweight. If your weim looks anything like Silky, please put them on a diet immediately! It's so unhealthy; it's hard on a dog's joints, heart, and other body systems. Fortunately, Silky has already dropped a few pounds and feeling more spry. Silky is such a HAPPY dog; he loves people and he loves other dogs. He would love a family of his own where he can be a part of the action and have someone to play with. NO cats for Silky. Silky is about 4-5 years old. If interested in fostering or adopting Silky, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Please welcome Silky to WRS! Silky is a sweet, well mannered 5-6 year old blue male. Silky was taken in by a wonderful Good Samaritan, who treated his heartworms and other ailments, and then turned him over to WRS so that we can find this big boy a forever home! Silky is a bit overweight, but we have him on a diet and exercise plan, and we expect those pounds to start dropping quickly. We do know that Silky is affectionate, loves people, and does well with other dogs. However, Silky has a high prey drive and cannot go to a home with cats. If interested in fostering or adopting Silky, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
