Your heart will probably melt when you spend a little time with Cheerio. She is so very sweet, but still has some trepidation about what all has transpired in her life recently. Rescued from a local kill shelter that is trying to go no-kill, Cheerio is learning that most humans can be pretty nice, but she has to test the water first. If you first hold her wrapped in a towel, this lessens her concern of her surroundings, then she starts to get curious and wants to explore. After exploring a little, she likes to lean into you or lay beside you for head, chin, and whisker scratching. Cheerio has a silent motor; you can tell she is purring by feeling her under her chin. She is on the petite side, has unusual markings, and a very soft fur coat; all is complete with a nice set of whiskers. Cheerio needs a home with a person who can give her the time she needs to adjust. If there were other cats in the home, Cheerio would need a slow, isolated introduction. This special kitty needs her turn at long-term happiness. If you are a patient person who finds it rewarding to help a cat blossom, then please consider giving Cheerio her chance. She is definitely worth that loving relationship...

Our Adoption Process...

We have many cats and kittens looking for wonderful homes! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $50. Because we like for our cats to go home in pairs, we have a standing 2 for 1 adoption special -- you can adopt 2 cats for one fee of $50.

Meet some of our cats and kittens, and fill out an application today! An OAR representative will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We do require a phone screening before an adoption so if you are coming to visit the cats and hope to take a cat or kitten home that day, fill out and submit the application at least a day beforehand so we can pre-approve your adoption.

As of 3/7/12, our adoption policy requires that the adopters of our cats not declaw the cats, no matter what the cat's age. We will, with our adoption counselors' help, provide potential adopters with information on alternatives to declawing. We also sometimes have previously declawed cats up for adoption. These can be a good alternative for adopters who are adamant about declawing.
