Sonny here, the somewhat reserved boy of 6 years of age. Maybe it's that I'm a little sad as my owner passed away. I'm a love though and enjoy people and being stroked and food and catnip (that's a secret). I try to act reserved but when people aren't looking and I have catnip - well anything can happen! I am happy being quiet and like to purr and enjoy both being with people and having my down time. Hey I'm a true gentleman - not demanding and not vocal like some around here! Boy those dogs are too much! If you'd like to have a quiet male cat at your home to help you relax - I'm your black furred boy!

If you're interested in Sonny, stop by the shelter during our adoption hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm or email our Feline Manager at

About Quincy Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

The Quincy Animal Shelter is a Volunteer-run organization. It was incorporated in November 1999 as a non-profit Massachusetts charity. It is also a recognized charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Since 1999 the Quincy Animal Shelter has placed more than 7,000 cats and dogs into loving and forever homes.

As a "no kill" shelter, we make every effort to find a great home for every animal in our care.

Delivering this type of care involves many Volunteers (currently more than 120), an active and dedicated management, and a lot of money. Currently we need to raise over $150,000 every year in order to keep doing what we do to help the dogs and cats in our care.
Our capacity at the Shelter is limited to a maximum of 12 dogs and 25 cats, depending on ages and condition of the cats. We have dreams of a larger facility and a larger budget in the near future...
