Rukie's Story...
Hi, my name is Rukie,

I am about 7 years of age and weigh 58lbs. I was surrendered to the Ark because other Shelters would not touch me because of my age, and I had a tumor on my hind leg. When the Ark took me in they updated all my vaccines, spayed me and took of a pesky lump.
However, my time is short, I have cancer and it is an aggressive type. The Ark is not sure, but I may have a very short time left and it would be nice to have a home who can help keep me comfortable until my time comes.

Please come to the Ark and ask for Rukie, that's me!

Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rukie, a Huntsville Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever for sale in Huntsville, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Huntsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
