With Pearl's small stature, sleek frame, long legs and tail, and perky ears, people often ask if she's mixed with Whippet or Greyhound. We're not sure, but we do know she is striking, unique looking, and so very sweet.
Pearl was rescued anemic and so malnourished from Downey Shelter in June 2014, our vets could not agree on her age. One vet said 4-6 months old. Another said at least a year but growth stunted from being so neglected.
She was saved due to someone who offered to foster her. They fell in love with her and adopted her.
Now, two years later, the family's life has changed. Their male mastiff, Pearl's buddy, passed away 6 months ago, one of the kids went to school, and Mom's hours doubled. Pearl was feeling the strain and not doing well, so they reached out to us for help.
So Baby Pearl is now a Cause Kid. She is sweet, quiet, very affectionate and loves kids. She will do best with a large male fur companion but large females would work with proper intros. Smalls are not a good fit; although she did live for two years in peace with a small female, after the Mastiff male passed, Pearl and the family's little had a few scuffles.
