Facts about Alexis *Courtesy Listing*

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female

Alexis is a beautiful 3 year old lab mix who found herself on death row at a local kill shelter! She was pulled by rescue but once in her foster home she didn't get along with other dogs so she was dumped at Wags and Whiskers vet. She has since been cared for by the staff and doing wonderful! Alexis was apparently hit by a car before coming into the vets car! She has an old leg break that has healed. It doesn't cause any pain and she uses it about 75 % of the time so it was determined it was best to not amputate since she does use it! She is undergoing heartworm treatment! Unfortunately, Alexis can not go to a home with cats or dogs but this girl makes up for not getting along with animals for the amount of love she shows people! She absolutely ADORES kids of all ages! She's kenneled trained and will kennel up when told. She weighs around 55 lbs. she's utd, hw tested and spayed!

All dogs have a $150 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter!

About Wags and Whiskers

About Our Rescue Group...

Wags and Whiskers is a FOSTER based small rescue along the Gulf Coast. We take in dogs from local shelters, strays and from individuals who are in need of help. We can only take in dogs that we have a foster space available for and that space is limited due to the shear number of unwanted dogs in our area. Our primary veterinarian is Dr. David Martin at Parkway Animal Hospital. He oversees all medical treatment. All dogs are current on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested if they are over 6 months of age and are altered before adoption. PARKWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL DOES NOT HOUSE OUR DOGS ONLY PROVIDE MEDICAL TREATMENT! We have an adoption process that consist of an online application that can be emailed to you, reference check, meet and greet and home visit. Adoptions will not be finalized until all procedures listed have been completed. We do not adopt on a first come first serve basis but to the best home for that particular animal when there are multiple applicants. If you are interested in more more information please email

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are in foster homes, but we are very easy and flexible to set an appointment up with to meet one of our animals once the adoption application is approved. We also participate regularly at adoption events with other local rescues.

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptions are subject to adoption application, reference checks and home visit/meet and greet with the potential adopters. We do NOT adopt on a first come first serve basis, but to the home we fill is the best fit for that particular animal of there are multiple applicants. The adoption fee is $150 for all animals which includes all age appropriate shots, wormer, heart worm test if of age, rabies if of age, spay/neuter, monthly preventatives while in our care, and any other medical attention that may be needed.
