Hey guys! Nora here. As some of you may know, I was adopted recently and returned. I am adjusting well to life back at the shelter, and I can’t wait to try again in a forever home. A member of the staff here brought me home with her to see how I did, and she said I was fantastic! Once I got used to the new place, I spent my time exploring, playing, and snuggling my foster parents. Anyways, don’t forget to come and see me when you stop by the shelter! Just ask a staff member or a volunteer to introduce you. And don’t forget to bring toys.

Here at the shelter, we call Nora the “Perpetual Catnip Cat.” Do you remember in Peter Pan, they said Tinkerbell was a little crazy because fairies are only big enough to have room for one emotion at a time? That’s what Nora is like. She only has room for one emotion at a time, and she feels them so intensely that  it seems like she is constantly on catnip. When Nora is feeling playful, nothing will stop her from playing. She has even been known to run headfirst into walls, probably because she thinks she can go right through them! When Nora is feeling loving, you can put your nose all the way up against hers and she will rub on your face and purr with intense contentment. Nora would do best in a home with adults and older kids, and no other cats! Nora doesn’t get along with other cats, because she is just a little more intense than they are and her emotion gets overwhelmed when she meets them. If Nora sounds like the right fit for your household, come meet this fantastic kitty today!

Adoptions are held Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am until 5 pm. (please note that our selection on weekdays is limited to those pets not in foster homes) at
4874 S Atlanta Rd SE
Atlanta, GA 30339

You may complete an application online and bring it with you to our adoption center, or complete one at our adoption center. Please carefully read each of the instructions below before you submit an adoption application.

Instructions For Adopting an Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption Dog or Cat:

All household members, including current dog(s), are required to attend the adoption interview, and if you currently have pets in the household you must bring along a copy of their most current medical records with proof of vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and proof of spay/neuter.

All applicants must be 23 years of age and must complete an adoption application.

For the best selection of pets, please plan to arrive at our adoption center early and bring your patience. This is an important decision and sometimes it takes a while. We do not hold or reserve animals. You must come in person and be interviewed in person in order to adopt.

Complete the adoption application online and print. You can bring the printed application to the shelter for your in-person interview, or you can fill out an application in person at the shelter. If we have questions or concerns or need clarification on any of your responses, we will address them when you are at the shelter.

As part of the adoption process, you will be required to sign a contract promising to take care of your new pet, keep its vaccinations and heartworm preventative current, and return the pet to us if you choose not to keep it.

Our adoption fee varies depending on the breed and age of the pet. For most dogs it is $275, however some purebred dogs can be as much as $425, and our adoption fee for most cats is $125. If you have any questions about the adoption fee of the pet you are interested in, please email us. The adoption fees help us cover our rescue expenses and provide veterinary care for the animals.

The adoption fee includes spaying or neutering, heartworm test and rabies shot if the dog or cat is old enough, and routine vaccinations. Dogs over age 6 months are tested for heartworms; cats and kittens are tested for feline Leukemia and Aids. All are treated for fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites. Adoptions fees can be paid by cash, Visa or Mastercard. We do not take checks.
