Tank is an exceptional small Standard (17 lbs), wirehaired,5.5 year old AKC Dachshund. Both his parents are from Germany. TANK is a very special and sweet guy. He enjoys cuddles and tummy rubs and playing outdoors. TANK is a runner hiker and would love a mom or dad to run with. He needs a big fenced yard. Tank is very energetic and muscular. He does not like all dogs and is not a fan of other male dogs. His best friend at the Rescue is a little female DOX BULL named Dizzy. They play run the land for hours. He is gentle, a charmer and a really good boy, truly a favorite at the rescue.
TANK is one of those doxies that really needs one on one love and affection to be successful, so he needs to be the only child in his new family. To set him up for success, TANK will do best in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home mama (work from home or retired). TANK has a history of running, so he truly needs a secure environment where his people pay a lot of attention to him.
Like all Dachshunds, TANK is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, TANK needs a very secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give TANK a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
