Hi there! If you're looking for a gorgeous pair of easy going cats, my brother Schmidt and I are a great match for you! We have been through a lot of hardships in the last couple of months. Our owner passed away in early June and we were taken to a shelter. This is absolutely traumatizing for animals! We became sick quickly at the shelter, but CAWS saved us and nursed us back to health! While the vet isn't sure we came from the same litter, Schmidt and I are still considered siblings because we sure act like it! I can be sweet as pie, but am also great at communicating when I need space (with a soft quick hiss, often at Schmidt). My face doesn't hide my mood at all, so there's another way you can tell! I enjoy occasional lap sitting but generally do my own thing and never cause any trouble around the house.

Schmidt and I will need to be combed daily to keep our beautiful fur mat free! We also need to be adopted together, as we are bonded. Thanks for reading!

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at, email or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
