Dewey's Story...
Meet Dewey! He’s just a laid back coon hound looking for some love. This handsome fella is easy going and great with people. He loves long walks or jogs and does well on a leash. He has had some clicker training and is very motivated by treats! He also knows commands for ‘Sit’, ‘Kennel’, and is working on ‘Down’. He is fully housebroken and crate-trained. He plays well with other dogs, but would also be content as an only dog. He enjoys playing fetch in the backyard, but only brings his toy back if you have another one ready to throw! Dewey likes to talk, and he’ll let you know if someone comes by or if he sees a squirrel on a walk that you may have missed. This cutie was turned into the shelter, but luckily his foster mom has a soft spot for hounds. Dewey is about 2 years old, approximately 60lbs, neutered, fully vaccinated, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. He is being fostered in north Alabama, but is available for adoption to your area. If you are interested in Dewey, you can fill out an application for him here- For other questions, e-mail

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dewey, a Marietta Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coonhound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Coonhound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coonhound breeders who help with Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
