Facts about Petey
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
already neutered and declawed.
I am already neutered and declawed.
This handsome boy is lucky to be alive. His former owners took him to the vet to be euthanized for behavior issues. He is only 5 years-old and purr-fectly healthy, so the vet asked instead that he be given to a shelter. The owner told the vet Petey didn't get along with their other cat and didn't like his wife. At first I thought, "You want a cat who doesn't like women or other cats to come to Helping Paws, with 200 other cats and primarily women volunteers?" Now I'm glad he's with us. I'm not sure what his former family situation truly was, but I will tell you about the cat I know. Petey is completely fine with our other cats and affectionate with our volunteers. Did I mention he is declawed? Petey was naturally scared and hid at first, but has since come out and learned our routine. His behavior is completely normal and I honestly can't see why anyone would give up on this gorgeous sweet cat. If you would like to give Petey a second chance call Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary at 239-283-9100.

About Our Shelter...
Adopting the unadoptable. Providing abandoned and unwanted pets a second chance.
Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no kill shelter, housing almost 200 healthy cats and kittens, as well as special needs, FIV and FELV cats. They are housed in rooms not cages; waited on by loving volunteers, have toys, TV’s with cat videos and water fountains.
The goal of the shelter is to not only find them homes, but to provide a wonderful home for the cats while they are in our care.
We hope to someday provide an equally loving environment for dogs and other animals when we have a larger facility.
