Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a special little guy we'd like you to meet. This is Elvis, he was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. We honestly aren't sure how he has survived the last 6 years of his life with a hole in the roof of his mouth, which allowed food into his nasal cavity, or how he was even able to nurse from his mother as a puppy without choking. Not only did he survive but he grew into an amazing little man, with no clue of his defomity or how much easier life could have been had he been treated. He just loves life and everything about it, he was dealt lemons and made himself some lemonade.
When Elvis came to us it was pretty clear he had been neglected; matted fur, rotted teeth and an eye that was blinded by glaucoma, but you know what, he was the happiest, most loving little boy, so full of sunshine. We knew then he was very special. April Blackman offered her services and groomed Elvis free of charge, thank you April, he looks like a rockstar!! He had surgery for his cleft palate, had his blind eye removed and all of the rotten teeth, that were causing him so much pain. We have to say, we didn't think he could get any sweeter but after he got cleaned up and treated, I think we saw him do a back flip and break straight into a happy dance ;). <3 Elvis still has the hole in his lip but is making it just fine and it doesn't stop him from smothering you with kisses.
If you would like to give Elvis a loving home for the rest of his life, please apply online. Please visit www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org for foster and adoption applications.
