Tiernan Smokey's Story...
Thank You Darling Family for Saving Me!
The 'SMOKEY' transport was sponsored by the Darling family in loving memory of their cat, Smokey Bunting. They adopted their pup, Sugar, from Joyful Rescues, and asked Sugar to let you know why the family wanted to sponsor a life-saving transport: 'It's me Sugar! My family is heartbroken to lose our 'Smokey' and we want to honor him by sponsoring a transport so that you can help lots of furries find forever families!!Smokey was so friendly, always welcoming with a head-butt, a kiss and lovely purrs. He looked like a panda-bear and was so handsome! He made us all smile every day and was never without his side-kick and best friend Shadow. (I have been trying to cheer Shadow up by cuddling with him the way Smokey did). Smokey's last name was Bunting (he and Shadow were Grandad's boys before Grandad crossed over the rainbow bridge). I know Granddad and Grandma Bunting are cuddling Smokey and giving him lots of love. We love and miss you Smokey-toes!!! Love, Sugar Darling (saved by the Bonadio transport!), Shadow, Thomas, Larry, Lesley & Brian
Tiernan was born about June 30, 2015 and weighs about 10 lbs. This is one adorable little fellow that is social, happy and loves the other dogs. Please understand that we have no prior knowledge of this dog and we will be learning as we go and so will you. We are SO glad we were able to save this little cutie!
Update from his Foster Mom: Tiernan is doing great. he is a wonderful little dog with a happy go lucky attitude. He gets along great with my dog, who is kissing him on a regular basis. Tiernan is very loving and gentle. He is a super cuddle bug. of course my kids love him. He has been around all ages and he is excellent with younger kids and elderly. He is not a barker in the house but will bark if someone comes to the door or he sees a squirrel.
He is working hard on the house breaking. He will use a pee pad in an emergency but that is getting to be less and less. He is good on the leash and enjoys his daily walks around the neighborhood. He likes to pick up sticks & pine cones and carry them around while we walk- which I think is adorable. While I'm at work he is crated. he does not seem to mind being in the crate at all. he does not whine or cry. he doesn't soil or destroy his crate while I'm at work. He is able to jump baby gates and jump onto the kitchen counter. we are teaching him that the counter is not for him but he is curious and can't seem to help himself. LOL! Tiernan enjoys his toys and will share them. He especially likes his blankets and pillow pets. he does not have any resource issues. He will play nicely with my dog.
The only thing I have noticed is that he LOVES to chase squirrels and chipmunks. I always keep him on a leash or lead in the yard because his prey drive is so strong I worry he will dart in the street after a squirrel. He does not seem to notice cats at all, just squirrels and chipmunks. I have seen him digging a little but he can be distracted.
Over all Tiernan is a sweet little dog with a lot of love to give some very lucky family. I can't say enough about this sweet boy. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $300.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
