My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LIBERTY is a 6 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 61 pounds. On July 4th we received a call for help for a stray girl found in the Eastern Shore. Her owner had been located, but he did not claim her and told Animal Control he didn't have proof of a rabies vaccine because she had never been to a vet. We brought her into the rescue with the same hopes that we bring in every dog we take in--to provide them with medical care and find them a loving home. Our vets discovered that she is Heartworm and Ehrlichia positive. Even though those are diseases that Lab Rescue treats on a regular basis, Liberty had a suspicious mass under her arm pit and a mass in her mammary gland. Punch biopsy results from the mass in the arm pit came back malignant and unfortunately it is an aggressive type of cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes and that most likely started in the mammary glands. She looks like she's been bred over and over again. She's at an advanced stage, and even surgery will not save this incredibly sweet girl. Liberty is in a foster home being spoiled, loved, and cared for and will enjoy this for as long as she's comfortable. Right now she's not showing any symptoms of discomfort. Even though she was fine with the few dogs she met at the shelter, at times she has been grumpy around the dogs she's met at the vet, but she is doing well in her foster home and accepting the resident pack. When it comes to humans, all she wants is love and to roll over for belly rubs. It's easy to fall in love with her. We don't have any cat or kid history, so she's approved for kids 10 +. More info soon!!!

We named her Liberty because we were contacted about her on July 4th.
