My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET STELLA -

STELLA is a 15 week old, 3.5 lb TINY and very Rare Dachshund. She is half soft coated wire hair Wheaton doxie and half Black and Tan long hair doxie (she has papers). This little girl is as CUTE as Cute can be and is all puppy. Stella loves to play AND she enjoys laying on your shoulder while you watch TV. Stella is new to the ODR, Inc. PUPPY Brigade so let's give her a great big welcome and see if we can't find her a forever family all of her very own.

STELLA is only a baby so she will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. She could also do well with a neutered male Dachshund brother. She really needs a family that will have the time and patience to teach her all the things a doxie puppy needs to know to achieve her full potential as a member of the family and as a Dachshund. Also, because she is still so young, her new family will need to sign an agreement to have her spayed at 5.5 months old and finish her puppy shots.

Like all Dachshunds, STELLA is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, STELLA needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give STELLA a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
