Clarissa’s story begins at a very scary place for dogs. Clarissa found herself and her puppies at a very high kill shelter in Texas. Fortunately, a foster for the shelter kept this little family until the puppies were old enough to be adopted. Clarissa was a very good mom and after her puppies left, another litter of pups came to the shelter. Sadly, these pups had lost their mom so Clarissa took these little ones under her wing and nursed them until they also were old enough to be go to their new homes. After all of Clarissa’s hard work raising her pups and an orphan litter, she found herself on the kill list. Her information card said that she had been at the shelter too long. The problem was, nobody ever saw Clarissa to adopt her because she was in a home raising puppies. That did not matter. The numbers do not lie and Clarissa had to go. Unfortunately, Clarissa didn’t have anywhere safe to go. As the clocked ticked and Clarissa’s time was running out, a foster for SAVE saw and shared her story. The day before Clarissa’s scheduled death, she was rescued and taken from the shelter forever.

Her new journey as a free dog begins. After raising 2 litters, Clarissa was very thin. She also had heartworms but this never dampened Clarissa’s spirit. Clarissa is now spayed, finished with heartworm treatment and gaining weight slowly. She is a very happy dog that loves to play, swim, run with her foster family of dogs, and has a never-ending curiosity about her cat family. Clarissa is also great with children (currently living with two 7 year olds). She shows her gratitude daily with big waste-hugging bear hugs. Clarissa needs to be close to her human family as she experiences separation anxiety. She is happiest when she can see her humans, cuddling with them, walking with them and just being near them. She would do very well with a stay at home family. Her foster mom works 1-2 days a week and is gone for 15 hours at a time during these days. Clarissa stays safe and sound in a large outdoor kennel during this time and does well. Otherwise, she is in the house with her humans and other furry friends. Although she would prefer to be in her human’s bed, she sleeps in an indoor crate at night without issue. The indoor crate is not recommended when at work as she is a little Houdini. Clarissa looks black in her pictures but she is actually a dark chocolate brown color. If you think that you can provide Clarissa with the love, attention and security that she craves and would like to be on the receiving end of her generous bear hugs, please fill out an application for adoption.

Clarissa’s foster family love her very much and can answer all of your questions about her. Thanks for choosing to ADOPT your next pet.

About S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition - TX Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition works to promote adoption through new adoption events, more public exposure of pets for adoption, and help the public make a good match with an adoptable animal.
Rescue groups work very hard to save animals every day, often using their own money, sacrificing time with family etc. We have animals from shelters and the streets of Houston that are now adoptable pets and we area helping these animals find permanent, loving homes.
We are all volunteer and no funds are spent for salaries, benefits etc. All money goes directly to the rescue group or their animals.
