Chuy is a darling young Chihuahua mix who recently arrived when his family was no longer able to care for him. Chuy loves meeting new people and has even enjoyed the company of his canine friends at CCR. Chuy has heartworm disease, which means his new owners will need to manage his activity for a few months while CCR works to treat him. All heartworm treatment is covered by CCR, but of course we would meanwhile love to have Chuy go to a foster or forever home. Chuy will also require life-long medication for Epilepsy. Fortunately, this is a manageable illness and the medication is quite accessible. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Chuy, please submit an application online at wwww.chicagocaninerescue.org. His adoption fee of $250 covers the costs of vaccinations up to the point of adoption, neuter surgery, microchip, and 30 days of pet insurance.
CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.
CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
