Hey there! My name is Noalie, but my foster mom calls me Natalie. I came to SSHS heartworm positive and the good people here treated my heartworm disease. I have now been cleared of heartworm as of September 2016. I am a bit shy and take a bit to warm up to strangers, but over all I am a very sweet girl. I am not recommended for homes with children under 12. I will need to be leash walked because I can climb a chain link fence and jump pretty high as well. I can have a tendency to dig in the yard, if I feel that I can escape the fence. Currently, I do live with other dogs in my foster home, but tend to be choosy about the dogs that I like. I do have a high prey drive, so I can not go home with an cats. I am currently in foster care, so if you would like to meet me please email

About South Suburban Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For forty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We have grown from a small group of volunteers to an organization made up of volunteers and paid employees that were responsible for almost 4,400 animals in 2013. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate two resale shops located in Steger, Illinois and Chicago Heights, Illinois that promote our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We also have adoptable cats at THREE PetSmart locations! PetSmart Tinley Park, PetSmart Orland Hills, and Petsmart Schererville, IN are both key adoption partners where many of our adoptable kittens and cats are housed until they find their forever homes.
