I am a very shy bull terrier mix puppy that has had an extremely rough start to life. I am not going to be the dog for everyone, as it takes me quite a while to warm up to strangers. However, if you have the patience to let me learn to trust you, you wont regret it for a second! I was really nervous and stressed out at the shelter, so one of the nice ladies here decided to become my foster mom, and I absolutely ADORE her! I follow her everywhere she goes, even to work at the shelter, giving her kisses and cuddling in her lap every chance I get. I like her family a lot too. We all play with toys together in the yard and go for walks, but my foster mom is definitely still my favorite. I will surely pick a favorite person in any home I go to, but I still have plenty of love to go around to everyone in the home once I'm comfortable. Plus I'm getting more and more friendly with people everyday, so I may not necessarily stay that way forever. I LOVE to play with other dogs, so my ideal home would have at least one canine brother or sister that will play with me and keep me company while you're gone. I even live with a cat right now and I am so nice to him! We sometimes chase one another but I would never hurt him. I am housebroken! I will come and tell you when i need to go outside! I am working on learning my basic commands, and I am great at fetch! I'm just looking for a nice patient home with people who understand my fear and that will be dedicated to helping me gain confidence. That dedication we are all looking for may require you to meet with me a few different times before you see the super sweet side of me and I feel comfortable enough to go home with you. If you are willing to take on the challenge of winning my heart, set up a meet and greet! Please contact to take that first step in becoming my new best friend!

About South Suburban Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For forty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We have grown from a small group of volunteers to an organization made up of volunteers and paid employees that were responsible for almost 4,400 animals in 2013. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate two resale shops located in Steger, Illinois and Chicago Heights, Illinois that promote our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We also have adoptable cats at THREE PetSmart locations! PetSmart Tinley Park, PetSmart Orland Hills, and Petsmart Schererville, IN are both key adoption partners where many of our adoptable kittens and cats are housed until they find their forever homes.
