I'm being cared for by: Second Chance Animal Sanctuary
Help me get seen & adopted!
Facts about Akira
Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Domestic Shorthair Mix
Color: Black (All)
I am already spayed.
Likes: laser pointers, cat nip, snuggling (but only on her terms!) head back and butt scratches Dislikes: other cats, vacuum cleaners, having her feet and belly touched and sudden movements. She's shy at first but super sweet once she warms up to you. She loves head scratches, back and butt scratches but does not like her feet or belly touched. She is not fond of sudden movements. It's better to let her see your hand and sniff or rub her face on it before you actually pet her. She was apprehensive of my dog at first but now they're best buds. Although she will occasionally put him in his place if he gets out of line. I don't think she likes other cats. I've noticed she's shy around men. If they're standing up she either freezes in place or runs away and hides but if they're sitting down she is more likely to interact with them. She's very good about not jumping on counters or scratching furniture but sometimes she just needs to be reminded that she's not supposed to do those things. At bedtime she will snuggle with you for a few minutes then make her way to the foot of the bed once she has had enough. During the day you can usually find her looking out a window watching the birds and squirrels. She likes her stuffed toys but she can never resist chasing the laser pointer. She is a chatterbox! If you can't find her just call her name and she will most likely answer you!
That's probably long winded and more than you need but I just can't say enough about her. She's so sweet and will keep you entertained for hours! I hope somebody gives her a chance and she finds her forever home ?

About Our Rescue Group...
For 25 years Second Chance Animal Sanctuary has been working to help homeless dogs and cats find their way into safe, permanent and loving homes. We promote animal welfare by providing rescue, proper veterinary care, and adoption for abandoned animals in Oklahoma.
Every animal has a story and many of those stories are heart-breaking, but in every case there is a common theme: an animal that deserves a second chance at life.
EACH ADOPTION SAVES TWO LIVES...AND ENRICHES ANOTHER!
When you adopt, not only do you save the life of one animal, but it frees up critical space so that we can rescue a second pet. And of course, the life that is enriched...is yours.
Our hours of operation are: Wed - Fri 12-6pm, Sat 10am-5pm and Sun 12-5pm. We are closed Mon & Tues.

Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee is $125. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and kept on monthly flea/tick/ heartworm prevention. Dogs have been heartworm and tick disease tested and cats are fiv/fel leuk negative. We do require an adoption survey and signed contract for any adoption.
