MATTIE JO is one of our four beautiful black dogs at RR right now
She's a lab mix with a long and lanky build. She's about 1-2 years old and fully vetted/HW negative
We have reason to believe she broke away from a very tight collar, and we are glad to have her safe. This girl needs exercise and a routine.
UPDATE!
Sweet Mattie has been in training with Paulina at The Mannered Mutt and so she is ready for her family !! 🏡🏡she is good on basic commands. She is 60 pounds and is fully vetted. She needs to be with dogs her own size and has an alpha personality !! She really needs a home right away !

About Rufus Refuge

About Our Rescue Group...

Over the past 12 months, 136 Madisonville animals were taken to an out of town shelter, where over 100 were euthanized. Rufus Refuge is committed to transforming the destiny of unwanted, abandoned and lost animals in Madisonville and the surrounding area.

When an animal is accepted into Rufus Refuge’s care, the animal is taken to a local veterinarian where it is spayed, neutered, checked for microchip and vaccinated and placed into Foster Care. The success of the organization is totally dependent on a strong foster relationship as there is no physical facility.

Rufus Refuge also aims to raise awareness that good veterinarian care, spaying and neutering is the first avenue of defense to counter an increasing, unwanted pet population. Partnering and promoting low cost alternatives is clearly a part of the mission. Working with local veterinarians with heart for rescue animals is vital to the success of this organization, and we are lucky to be working with Dr. Denise and others.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We frequently have adoption events all around the Madisonville area. If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptable animals please contact us and we can set up a time to meet some of our amazing pets.

Our Adoption Process...

When you adopt a rescue animal you will have the most grateful loving pet. Having said that, we want to make sure that all animals adopted through Rufus Refuge go to the perfect home. We like to speak personally with prospective adopters before placing an animal in a home. We are having a Summer Special of $25 adoption fees, and we require that you fill out an adoption form when adopting a pet from us.
