Dakota is a cute, sweet, nine year old male Shih Tzu. He's about 18 pounds and rather stocky, but not overweight. He’s just a big boy! He came into rescue after being abandoned at a local veterinary clinic. Not much is known about his history, but he enjoys people and is a true companion dog. He wants to be with you at all times. If he’s not by your side, you know where to find him - he’s patiently waiting in the kitchen his breakfast or dinner. His foster mom actually put a bed in the kitchen and he will go lay in it when he gets hungry, waiting for his meals twice a day. In fact, the kitchen is his favorite room of the house, and he enjoys watching his foster mom while she’s cooking. He doesn’t beg, though, and is just fine when she doesn’t share her food with him.
Dakota is house trained and very good about letting you know when he needs to go out. He likes to cuddle in bed and wants to lie up against you, but will curl up and sleep next to the bed if you prefer he not be on the bed. He loves walks, although when it’s really warm he will head for the shade and lay down flat in a Superman pose, and it will take a few tugs to get him going again. He is very good with other small dogs, would probably do okay with cats, and rides well in the car. He is not fond of baths or face trims, but the groomer has no problem with him.
Dakota’s ideal home would be with adults or a family with older children. His adoption fee is $120.00 plus $8.73 sales tax for a total of $128.73. He is healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
