Moose is an 8 yr. old Newfoundland mix who has had a bad run of luck. He ended up in a crowded shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized. Moose was underweight, his fur was matted, his toenails were over grown and he had tapeworms… but he also had a sparkle in his eyes and a friendly smile! Unfortunately, he also tested positive for heartworms when we took him for an exam, microchipping and vaccination update. His eyes are perfectly clear and look like the eyes of a puppy and not the senior he is. We’re about to start his treatments and are hopeful that he will come through it well. We’re still working on putting some weight on him, because at 65 lbs., he is on the thin side. He is house-trained and crate trained and gets along with other dogs his size. He hasn’t been around small dogs or cats since we’ve had him, but he can be tested. He is neutered, likes children and isn’t protective of his food or toys. He stays off of the furniture and has a gentle soul. He isn’t high energy, but he does like to play if it isn’t too hot outside. He walks okay on a leash and enjoys a nice stroll where he can wander and sniff. This boy needs a home who will take care of him after he recovers from his heartworm treatment. He would love a fenced yard and a family who will be as loyal to him as he will be to them.
