Peanut's Story...
Peanut is a beautiful and healthy Jenday Conure (Aratinga jandaya) of rather young age. He enjoys being outside of his cage and prefers sitting on his foster daddy’s shoulder to receive treats and scratches as much as he can. He originally comes from a family of five but appears to bond to primarily only one person at a time. Since he further seems to have a preference for males, it would be recommendable if his new forever household includes a male passionate for birds. Peanut does need some time to warm up to new people, and knows how to communicate his discomfort. However, once he starts developing trust, he makes fast progress in becoming a loving companion. He currently lives in a foster household with two other birds and shows neither special affection nor aversion for either of them. In summary, Peanuts new family may have to show some patience at first, but will get an affectionate and cuddly companion bird in exchange.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut, a St. Louis Conure was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Conure for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Conure from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Conure breeders who help with Conure rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
