My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Tinker has acclimated to her foster home and is an outgoing, lovebug who loves attention. A recent visitor said "she's exactly the kind of cat everyone wants!" LOVES attention and is very affectionate.

Aw, poor Tinker, sweet Tinker. She's such an affectionate noodle of a cat, but a little shy initially with the recent changes in her life.

Tinker came to SARA from animal control, she landed there after her former owner went into assisted living and couldn't take Tinker. The shelter was a scary place for Tink and although she seemed to want to interact with people, she would not allow herself to be handled. After two months of being considered "unadoptable" she came to SARA.

What a difference! Within an hour of arriving in her foster home, Tinker could be pet and would give affectionate head bumps. Two days later she was climbing into her foster mom's lap and demanding attention. She's still a little shy, her foster mom says "she will hide when I first walk into the room, but she soon comes out and asks for attention. She's also a little treat hound. She LOVES to be brushed and be petted. Considering all she has been through I can't believe she has come so far, so fast - she's amazing and has a big personality. I think she was just used to a quiet home with her purrson - she was clearly loved. She likes to make biscuits and is clearly learning she can relax and is safe."

Tinker is still recovering from her time in the shelter - her foster mom is working on building her confidence and trust. She didn't groom for two months at the shelter and although she is grooming now, foster mom is helping to clean her up with damp wash cloth "baths" and plenty of brushing.

Tinker lives in a foster home with other mellow cats and with gradual introduction she is doing fine, although she would probably prefer to be an only cat - she was clearly the center of someone's world. She's looking for a calm home with someone who will give her a little time to settle in, understanding that she has been through some dramatic changes over the last few months.
