Today is 2/5/13. My name is Kazama. I am a senior Chinese Crested Powder-Puff, living in Loudonville, New York. I am approximately 13 years old and weigh just over 11 pounds. I am gentle and sweet. I have lived with my foster mommy since 2008. Before I was rescued, I lived in a crate 24/7, weighed only 7 pounds and could barely walk straight. Now, although I have some medical issues, I can run and climb and play. I need a lot of help though, as I am losing my vision and hearing and sometimes cannot find my way. I have a small heart murmer, but I am feeling fine. I startle very easily and must be careful what I eat because I get sick if I eat the wrong food or too fast. My skin is very sensitive, so I take medicated baths often. I am most playful after my bath and hair is silky soft then. I don't understand the housebreaking trick at all, but I will go outside if you take me there and I don't mind wearing a belly band. I love, love, love attention and will let you pet me forever! Other pets don't bother me at all; I've lived with cats, other dogs, a rabbit and a hamster. I don't pay much attention to any of them, unless there is food around, of course. Then I might yell in my howly voice, but I would never hurt anyone. I can't anyway, as I have no teeth! Little puppies are a bother to me, but I put up with the little rascals. I like to eat alone because I am a slow eater. I prefer a fenced-in yard without a lot of obstacles or steps because I sometimes bump into things or lose my footing. I can walk on a leash, but not as far as I used to, as I tire much quicker these days. I sleep in my own bed, but I also love sleeping with my foster mommy. We are a group of individuals living across the United States and Canada, whose goals are to preserve and protect Chinese Cresteds in need. We provide vetting, transportation, and foster homes for each dog in need, until he or she can be carefully matched to an approved home. We provide education about the breed to private individuals interested in adopting, and to shelters as well, in an effort to help ensure the integrity of the breed as a whole. We are involved in Crest-Care, Inc. for no other reason than our concern for Chinese Cresteds in need. We realize our limitations in that we cannot save them all, but working together, we help those we can. We work within the framework of local and civil laws, in order to protect both dogs and all parties concerned.
Our dogs are in private foster care across the country & Canada, each rep does adoption events in their local areas.
We require adoption application, screening of vet and personal references and home visit prior to approval to adopt.
