My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey friends, my name is Maggie and I am a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier who is looking for a special home! I was brought to the shelter when my owner was moving and could not take me along. I have a pretty crazy story that I would like to share with you. When I was in my last home, I was attacked by a bear. I got loose from my owner in the evening and when they went to look for me in the morning, I was found laying by a dumpster in pretty bad shape. I was raced to the vet, treated and was told I would be fine. After seeing a new vet once I arrived at SHS, they told the shelter staff that I was going to be a costly dog for someone someday. I will need a total hip replacement at some point and the knee on that side is also damaged, something that cannot be repaired. WHOA! (You can ask my friends here for more information on my condition) Despite all of this, I am the sweetest girl around. I can be a tad aggressive with certain dogs, however I did live with another dog in my last home. A dog that is submissive and/or not reactive would be my best match, but I would like to have a couple introductions before going home. My favorite pass time is to be with people. I LOVE people! I would prefer a home with older children, though, as I have not been around toddlers. I am hoping for my dream family to come in and adopt me! I know that I could potentially be an expensive dog, but I am hoping that someone out there will realize what a GREAT, loving girl I am and give me the chance at a happy furever home! For more information, please stop in Wed-Sat 12-4:30 or call the shelter and talk with my friends about me! You will be so happy that you found me, PROMISE!
