Hi there! Sherman here, coming live and in living color from the great city of Houston. I am a handsome, full blown East Texas cowboy (or maybe that should be cow dog?). I mean, on a scale of 1 to 10, I am at the very least a 9.9 (not to brag or anything). As for my breed and size, I am a black and white Pointer mix and weigh in around 34 pounds. So, let’s start back at the beginning of my journey. I was left, along with my sister, at the front gate of a cattle ranch. This happened about 3 years ago (I was just a little puppy back then and was very scared). I was so very fortunate that my sis and I were found by this nice couple who took us in. Later I realized that we had hit the jackpot! I mean, having a full belly, a nice dog house to rest in and hundreds of acres of land to run around on were an absolute dream! Unfortunately, my former people were elderly and couldn't care for me and my sister anymore. So, this is how I ended up in the big city with my foster mommy.
My foster mom has been teaching me so many new things since I came here to crash. First of all, she is teaching me how to be a quiet and studious, indoorsy-type of guy. Whoa...I cannot believe that I have been missing out on this WHOLE indoors-thing all these years! No one told me that living inside was the cat's meow! If I would have known that, I would have made a beeline into the house a long time ago! Now, don't get me wrong, I still adore the great outdoors. I am an extremely energetic boy, so I am ALL about playing and roughhousing outside, but there is something to be said about having a big, fluffy bed waiting just for me back in the house. I have also learned how to walk on a leash, of which I am very proficient at. I LOVE my new stuffed toys to death, but I don’t think that they are very fond of me once I am done playing with them. Running around outside, going to the dog park to play, and chewing on rawhide bones are just a few of my hobbies. Trying to get the peanut buttery goodness out from the inside of that darned red rubber Kong is probably my most favorite pastime.

My foster mommy LOVES the fact that I prefer to do my manly business outside. I am 100% potty trained and can hold it all day long while my foster mom is at work! I am still working on learning the ins and outs of crate training. I think I just enjoy being around my people so much that I am not too sure about having to stay in a crate for long periods of time, but I am working on it. I get along great with other dogs and I enjoy meeting new people. My former owners had a cat, which was mainly an indoor girl, but when she was out I was very respectful of her. I would totally enjoy having another fur brother or sister, but what I really want is to have someone to call my own.

About S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition - TX Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition works to promote adoption through new adoption events, more public exposure of pets for adoption, and help the public make a good match with an adoptable animal.
Rescue groups work very hard to save animals every day, often using their own money, sacrificing time with family etc. We have animals from shelters and the streets of Houston that are now adoptable pets and we area helping these animals find permanent, loving homes.
We are all volunteer and no funds are spent for salaries, benefits etc. All money goes directly to the rescue group or their animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

You will be required to complete an application for your selected pet. You can do so at Processing may take up to 3 days. The application will include previous pet experience and vet info, how you will house your new pet and a little about your lifestyle so that we can be sure your pet will mesh with your family's activity level. We want you to have a permanent family member so we will take great care to assure that you find a suitable companion.
