Sienna was turned in as a stray to the Hayward shelter. She was in the shelter for a couple of months, then adopted at the "Clear the Shelters" event, and returned the next day due to housing issues for the family.
During her time at the shelter she struggled a little bit with shelter staff and being handled by strangers, but made some progress. Another dog at the shelter, Abagail - a Jack Russell / Chi mix - was struggling even more with being handled and anxiety, so the shelter kenneled the two dogs together. It was a great idea as both dogs faced their shelter anxiety and fears together. When Nobody's Perfekt Dogs went looking for the next dog to take into foster care, we knew we had to take both of them, as it would have been devastating for the one left behind.
Once both dogs were out of the shelter and in a home setting, they really started to blossom. Sienna is more comfortable with people, while Abagail loves playing other dogs. They are doing well, overall.
We are not insisting that they be adopted together, but it would be a nice happy ending for both of them.
