You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Jackson is about a year old (as of March 2016) Lab mix male. He is sweet and friendly..  HW negative and neutered.  He is very playful and energetic but  wants to please, so he listens well. He doesn't have very good dog manners and runs up to strange dogs too quickly at times and gets his butt kicked but he is submissive. He just lives for attention. He would do best in a home that had time to give him plenty of exercise. He is good in his crate but really needs a fence yard to run in. He listens well and always comes when called and then will sit to be petted.

Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process has 3 steps. First we ask that you complete an application at
Once the application has been completed, we ask to do a brief, informal home visit. Once that has been completed, and you have been approved, you will be able to take the pet home for a sleepover that can last for up to 10 days. If you are satisfied that the pet is compatible with your family members, other pets and lifestyle, we will make the adoption final. Our adoption fees vary but the average is $250.00. The pet will have been spayed or neutered, have completed all of his vaccinations and be ready to go to your home. Finally, you must sign a contract that if, at any time during the life of the pet, your situation changes, it must be returned to us or we must give approval if you have a potential home. You can get more details on our web site.
