PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFO BELOW (your question may be answered here)

This page is largely volunteer operated. We use our own time to visit the shelter, take pictures and post them to this page. With that said, the above information may be the only information we have available for this animal as we do not like to get in the way of the shelter staff to ask a lot of questions on every single animal. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every dog you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive toward adults. As far as child or cat aggression, that is not a standard test that can be performed on every animal. If you are concerned about either aggression, it is suggested that you visit the shelter in person and ask a shelter attendant for assistance. We do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, and if you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough).

Mon: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Tue: 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

Wed - Fri: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Sat: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Puppy/dog adoptions are $35 - 50. Kittens/cats are $25 - 50. This includes the pet's rabies vaccination, a dog/cat combination vaccination, spay or neuter surgery, a heartworm check and/or a feline leukemia test. It includes an annual pet license if you live in the city limits of Huntsville. We also provide a 2 pound sample of the food that your pet has been eating while in our care. We also provide a collar and a personalized, engraved identification tag.

Act quickly to adopt 464123. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting an animal: 1) Write down the Animal ID # . 2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on the animal. 4) It cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting it, you can spend time with the animal outside or in a "meet and greet" room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that any animal will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if one is still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt a pet, it will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where it will be spayed or neutered before going to its new home. If it is already spayed or neutered, it can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), and microchip.
Cats seven months and older are currently $35 that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Kittens six months and younger are $50.

Dogs seven months and older are currently $35 and includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, canine heart worm test over six months of age, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Puppie six months and younger are $50. Prices are subject to change.

$35 - Lifetime license not included in the adoption fee

Fees change if the animal comes into the shelter with proof of current rabies vaccination, current city license, and/or proof of spay/neuter. If the animal has been spayed or neutered there is no spay/neuter fee.
Adopting parties must have proof of identification. They must be 19 years of age or older. They must not be intoxicated. The adoption process takes approximately 30 minutes for the paperwork. Please allow ample time to look for the pet of your dreams, visit with it, and do all appropriate paperwork. We do not suggest adoptions for a gift. If you desire to give the gift of a new pet, bring that person with you and allow them to pick out their new family member.
