Dirk's Story...
This stunning boy is about 3 years old and is a typical aussie. Dirk enjoys being with his people and has a lot of energy, so a home with a fenced yard would be great for him, but not a necessity, as long as he gets adequate exercise. Dirk is a little unsure in his movements, so a home without young children would be best. This handsome boy has been pretty good with his doggy neighbors, here at the shelter, but a meet and greet is required before this boy goes in to his forever home. Come check this cool dude out, today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dirk, a Martinsville Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Martinsville, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Martinsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Martinsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Martinsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Martinsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
