Yum, an Oreo cookie is so sweet – and like his name – so is our Oreo!! He is an affectionate, 40-pound, 3.5 year old, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix who is neutered and up to date on all his shots. Oreo has the type of personality that will make your heart melt. You can’t help but fall in love with this dog. The minute you walk into the door, Oreo is there to greet you, his little nub of a tail wagging so ecstatically that his whole butt wiggles! Seeing you is his greatest part of the day because he knows now he'll get all the pets, attention, and playtime in the world. And, he is such a ham for attention! He rolls over for belly rubs, scoots closer to you while you're sitting on the couch so you'll start petting him, and if you stop petting him before he's ready he'll beg you for more! He really is such a character! If it's one thing this guy has, it's energy. But he's the kind of dog that once you let him play, or run for a bit, he gets that energy out and he's ready to sleep. He would be a perfect fit for anyone who likes to run, hike, or do any outdoor activities and has a fenced in backyard. He would even be perfect for a family with older children (10+); he would tire himself and the kids out! He is the perfect family dog! For whatever reason he showed up at the shelter as a stray. But, he definitely had a family at some point because he's so friendly with people and trained. Immediately at the shelter he won everyone over. He then went to boarding while he awaited a foster here in New Jersey and he charmed everyone there as well. He learned all the tricks they taught him too. The people there thought he was an extra special dog. Oreo is indeed super smart and trainable. So far he knows: sit, paw, roll over, and stay. And, he talks. He likes to converse. He could use a little more training, especially on the leash but it isn't anything to worry too much about. Oreo even loves other dogs! A home with another dog would be ideal for him so he always has a playmate to play with. He is currently living in his foster home with his foster sister Summer and they get along great and love to play! Even though all the volunteers and everyone he encounters on his walks and hikes fall in love with Oreo, he's still patiently waiting for that perfect furever home to come his way! We are looking for a home with experienced dog owners and a fenced in backyard. If that sounds like you, be the milk to this Oreo and fill out an adoption application for him today at www.peace4paws.org ! Thank you!
