My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our big boy Princeton is a jovial fellow, who joined us from a rural town shelter, where he and his Papa, were abandoned by a suspected backyard breeder. Weighing 84 pounds, Princeton appears to be one of the giant breeds. We think he is a mix of Saint Bernard and Harlequin Great Dane. He has a stocky, muscular build, with the massive, square head of the Saint Bernard, as well as the Harlequin colors of the Dane. His long, lustrous coat has a slight wave to it, and feels silky to the touch. He needs regular brushing, and possibly a bi-annual professional grooming.

Princeton was a little on edge during his time at the shelter, but he was good-natured enough to tolerate his Veterinary "poke and prod." He did pretty well during his behavior evaluations, and has continued to impress us during his time in foster care. He is a large, affectionate dog, with a moderate energy level, who requires a couple of leisurely leash walks each day. Princeton could be the ideal companion for a single or couple who spend quality time relaxing at home, or he could join a family with older kids, accustomed to large breeds. Princeton would not be suitable for a family with toddlers, as he may topple a small child by accident.

Princeton is quite intelligent, and has Working Dog DNA. Obedience training is the best way to challenge him mentally, and he has responded quite well to the Canine Cood Citizenship basics as well as obedience work. He knows his basic commands, and is very willing to work for treats or praise. Adopters will find the obedience sequence an excellent way to bond with Princeton and a good tool to establish themselves as his pack leader.

Princeton has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during Princeton's transition to a new home. He is in excellent health, and is at an ideal lean body weight of 84 pounds. He has been neutered, and has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitus, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza, coronavirus), and Canine Flu. He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test: negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and and is on preventatives for Heartworm and Flea/Tick.
