Hi, I'm Jeffery and I'm a black 28-day old kitten. I was found on the square checking out the bandstand when I was swept up by a nice person and taken to the shelter. I was a little shy at first, but now I'm happy to be here where it's cool and safe. Even though this is a great place to hang out, I would like a home of my own. I'm your typical kitten--playful, curious, cute and cuddly. I would love to make your house a home and grow up with you and yours. Come out and meet me!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
