Hi, my name is Mark and I'm a grey 2-month old kitten. I came to the shelter when I was just a month old with my sisters. We have been growing up here and having a great time-----but now it is time for us to go out into the world and make it a better place. I will be happy to go home with you and make your life just a little happier, a little calmer and a whole lot better. You can thank me later. I am you typical kitty though--I do like to play and run and tickle your fancy. We can have a rough and tumble day and a calm and cuddly evening--just you and me (and whoever else resides with us). Come and cuddle a while! I'm waiting!!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
