From the Foster:
Cobi is a true gentleman. He has been with us a couple weeks now and easily settled-in to our family. Cobi is calm, low-maintenance and gets along beautifully with our resident dog. Cobi does not like the crate, but does not need to be crated. He roams freely at all times, however he mostly sits on his bed and sleeps. At 13 years old, this is typical lab behavior. His back legs are weak and the stairs are tricky for him. We help him balance as he goes down the stairs. Cobi will bark when he needs to potty or when he wants to join us in the basement and needs help getting to us. He loves car rides and will happily run errands with you. He takes meds daily for pain and anxiety. Cobi would do best in a home with another calm senior to keep him company. I moved his bed to be next to my resident dog’s crate and Cobi has not barked once when I leave now for work. Cobi is house trained and can hold his bladder for a full work day-9hrs. He has shown absolutely no signs of aggressive behavior. He accommodates other dogs (only experience has been with >20 pound dogs) well and loves children. Cats are unknown. Cobi is mostly deaf, but understands some basic hand signals.
Cobi appreciates affection and attention and responds well to positive reinforcement and treats. Cobi walks well on a leash- short distances only as his back legs are weak. I think Cobi would do well in just about any home as long as he gets some love and a belly scratch each day. I do recommend a home with minimal stairs (1-2). Any family who adopts Cobi will be very lucky to have such a wonderful boy.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
