My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ANGEL -

ANGEL is a 2 year old approximately 17 lb, smooth Red Dachshund/Chihuahua (Chiweenie) mix with a gorgeous glamour personality and who finds herself needing a new, loving forever family. ANGEL has been well cared for, but due to severe health issues, her previous family can no longer care for her. ANGEL enjoys walking (is great on a leash), playing and has beautiful, sparkly white teeth (just like every glamour girl). ANGEL's name truly befits her. She loves to love and play with her humans. Do you have room in your heart and family for this precious Angel?

While she enjoys playing with other dogs, ANGEL will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired). She could be placed in a family with a nice, neutered male Doxie as a brotherly companion.

Like all Dachshunds, ANGEL is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, ANGEL needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ANGEL a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
