My Life Was Spent in a Puppy Mill!

Ken was born about July 13, 2009 and weighs about 12 lbs.  He has spent his life in a cage in a puppy mill and is so excited, and amazed, to walk on grass!   He is having a blast here and loves the other dogs.  A puppy mill dog often does better with another dog in his next life - a normal dog.  The normal dog will teach the puppy mill dog how to act in the world.  As far as puppy mill fear goes this guy is minor.  When we try to pick him up he will run, but otherwise is very comfortable with us, he looks at us dances and wiggles.  Due to this behavior he is not really appropriate for young children.  We want to mention that these small dogs often do better with a potty floor pad available and if you are interested in rescuing a mill dog we'd like to have you go to our website and read the "Working with Mill Dog Notes".   Ken has had his first dental and only has 4 teeth left.  We have found that he absolutely cannot be crated, he freaks out, it must make him feel like he will be in the crate forever as he was before.  Why his last name?  Well, he ADORES the Kuranda beds and hops from one to the other just for fun.  Adopting a mill dog is a special kindness as it will take many months or, even, years before the dog truly shows love toward you.  But, when that moment happens you see it in their eyes and it will take your breath away!  We ADORE this little boy, he has blossomed!
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $250.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.

We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
