About Mickey's Haven 4 Pit Bulls

About Our Rescue Group...

I am a military veteran who had one pit bull that changed my life. His name was Mickey. He was a 90 pound pittie full of love. In January of 2014, my two very young daughters, myself, and Mickey were driving home late at night from FL back to NC in a rain storm. We hit a pocket of water on the highway and hydroplaned and flew into the trees. Mickey was ejected from the car, and we never saw him again. my toddler Ellie, and baby Abigail were ok, and I had minor bruises but trouble breathing. Mickey was gone, and I was screaming and was stuck in the car so I could not go after him. We got the call at the hospital that he was found dead on the side of the highway in Jacksonville, FL. I was devastated, and my daughter Ellie, still talks about him and asks where he is. The pain was intolerable, and so I decided to turn it into something positive. Since I was not able to save my dog, my mission now is to save as many pitties as I can, and find them the right home, full of love. I hope to aid in the fight to end BSL, and I will fight until I die, so these dogs hopefully one day will not have to anymore.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption interests require an application filled out by potential adopters, background check, home check, and meet and greet with the rescue of choice. We want to make sure all adopters are the right fit for our rescue dogs before placing them in a home. All dogs are spayed/neutered, temperament tested, know basic commands, kennel trained, UTD on shots, and registered with a microchip. Any questions, please feel free to email us at
