COOKIE & RUFFLES are sweet, friendly and energetic kittens. They love playing with strings and balls, and wrestling with each other for hours before settling down. They love special cuddle time with their foster parents and following them around their home like little ducklings. They need a quiet to moderately active home with adults or older kids (12 years or older). They are bonded and must be adopted as a pair.

COOKIE (black/white medium-haired) could be the top model of the cat world. Her white whiskers beautifully accentuate her perfect facial features. Cookie loves hanging out with her foster parents and her brother, Ruffles, but also has an independent streak. Cookie can entertain herself with toys but she also seeks human affection and is very loving. She enjoys napping on her foster parents bed when they are watching TV and especially likes being petted under her chin and behind her ears. Cookie is guaranteed to bring joy to your life!

RUFFLES (orange tabby, short-haired) is a fun boy who loves to play. He is guaranteed to bring you lots of joy with his kitten antics. Give him a cat toy to play with and you will have an hour of entertainment! Ruffles also absolutely LOVES cuddle time and needs you to include that in your schedule. He follows his foster mom around their home and meows for her whenever not in his sight. He will make the perfect addition to any cat-loving home.

Cookie and Ruffles came into our care with their siblings, Ruby and Chip (posted separately). Believe it or not - they arrived in our care in a cardboard box weighing less than one pound each. They are growing up fast and ready for a home to call their own.

About SPCA of Northern Virginia

About Our Rescue Group...

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Northern Virginia is a non-profit, all-volunteer, private organization established by local concerned citizens to rescue domestic animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. We receive all our funding from membership dues, donations, and fundraising events. We are always striving to enlarge our animal rescue operations and expand our services to the community. Our voluntary Board of Directors, committee members, and volunteers are responsible for all SPCA activities. We do not have a shelter facility, and depend on foster parents to care for domestic animals until adoption.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our dogs are available to meet at twice monthly adoption events in Fairfax, VA.

Our cats are available to meet you in their foster homes
by appointment weeknights or weekends.

Our Adoption Process...

Please read our cat adoption guidelines (at We put a lot of financial and emotional support into our cats and want them placed in homes where they will be members of the family for the rest of their lives. Indoor cats, with care, can live up to 20 years. Not everyone agrees with all of our guidelines. Please read our explanations and talk to our volunteers. If you disagree with us, we suggest you adopt a cat from a different source such as a local shelter. When you adopt a cat from us, you must sign a legal contract stating that you will comply with our guidelines. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat and $250 for two.

For those interested in cat adoptions, all potential adopters must read our adoption guidelines (available on our website at, then meet the cat in person either at an Adoption Fair or in their foster home. We take applications only after you've met the cat and we both feel it's a good match.

All adopters interested in adopting a dog must meet the dog in person, and submit an application. A housecheck is done, and references are checked. If approved, the dog will be placed in the home for a two-week trial period, to make sure that it is a good "fit" for both people and dog. If it is, the adoption is finalized and the adoption fee is paid. We do not adopt outside of the Washington DC metro area.
