Livvy is a sweet Maltese Mix who was surrendered by her owners in hopes of her finding a family that was able to care for her better. She is a sweet and playful girl. She is very human oriented and wants nothing more to sit on someone's lap and give them kisses. Livvy gets excited for her walks, loves to play and, of course, can't get enough of being petted and receiving belly rubs. She will perk up as soon as someone mentions a "cookie" and will stand on her two back feet for one. Livvy has a rare but mild condition called Vaginal Hyperplasia where her vulva appears swollen which may have been cause by hormonal spikes after her spay. Livvy is not bothered by this and it does not affect her urination or in any way her medically nor does it require any future care. However, the base of her vulva may never completely swell down to normal size. When she experienced a hormonal spike, Livvy also experienced a psuedo pregnancy. She was nippy when going through the pseudo pregnancy which is a common behavior with dogs experiencing it and her psuedo pregnancy is now over. She has improved greatly with being nippy towards strangers however, she still is weary of some people (doesn't seem to have any specific triggers) and can become defensive if strangers don't respect her boundaries. For example, Livvy would be fine going on a walk and passing people on the street, however, if a stranger on the street bent down and swooped her up in their arms she would likely nip. Her behavior shouldn't be an issue so long as she is placed with someone understanding that she is simply weary of strangers.
Livvy is part of our overlooked program and is available to homes outside of our normal adoption range.
